Protection For Buried Or Immersed Pipes And Fittings
Densopol 60 and Densopol 80 Tapes
Densopol 60 HT and Densopol 80 HT Tapes
Main Features:
- Reinforced for greater strength
- Resistant to cathodic disbonding
- Excellent adhesion
- Resistant to damage by backfill
- Cold applied
Densopol 60 Tape and Densopol 60 HT Tape
Product Description:
A synthetic fabric reinforcement coated with rubber bitumen adhesive compound and backed with a conformable pvc film. Due to its great flexibility Densopol 60 is used for wrapping small to medium diameter pipes, welded joints, bends and fittings on buried or submarine pipelines (including coated pipes). It can be applied by hand or wrapping machine. Densopol 60 HT Tape is available for use in tropical climates.
Advantages:
The toughness of the tape is due to the combination of the pvc backing and the fabric reinforcement in the bitumunous adhesive compound. The tape is particularly resistant to damage that may be caused by impact or poor backfill.
Densopol 80 Tape and Densopol 80 HT Tape
Product Description:
A synthetic fabric reinforcement coated with rubber bitumen adhesive compound and backed with a heavy duty pvc film. Densopol 80 is used for wrapping medium to large diameter pipes, welded joints, bends and fittings on buried or submarine pipelines (including coated pipes). It can be applied by hand or wrapping machine. Densopol 80 HT Tape is avaialble for use in tropical climates
Advantages:
The extreme toughness of the tape is due to the combination of the heavy duty pvc backing and the fabric reinforcement in the bitumunous adhesive compound. The tape is particularly resistant to damage that may be caused by impact or poor backfill.
Tape Application:
Each carton contains full instructions for use. Brief details are given below:
The steel surface must be prepared to St2 minimum. Apply Denso Primer ‘D’ to all surfaces to be wrapped and allow to dry. Fill irregular profiles with Densyl Mastic. Peel back about 0.5m of interleaving and apply adhesive side of the tape to the primed surface and press down. Apply the tape spirally with enough tension to make it conform. Remove interleaving as wrapping proceeds. Overlap each turn by at least 15mm or 55% to achieve a double thickness.
Denso Primer ‘D’:
Brush applied primer required prior to application of either Densopol 60 or 80 Tape (this also applies to HT grades).
Densyl Mastic:
Cold applied mastic for moulding arounf irregular profiles e.g. couplings, flanges, valves etc to provide a contour suitable for wrapping. For estimating requirements allow 720cm3/kg/lb.
Outerwraps:
A full range of outerwraps is available to provide extra mechanical protection resistance or improve heat deflecting properties.
