Densoclad HT - Cold Applied Laminate Tapes

Product description

Densoclad tapes consist of a polymer bitumen adhesive laminated to a pvc backing. The adhesive layer is protected by an
interleaving, wider than the tape, which is discarded during application. The tapes are available in several grades to suit different
requirements of mechanical strength and conformability.

Uses

For the anti-corrosion protection of all sizes of buried or immersed pipes, welded joints and fittings. Suitable for machine or
hand application. Long rolls available for factory application.

Features

  • Cold applied
  • Good conformability
  • Good impact resistance
  • Excellent adhesion to pipe and to self
  • Excellent resistance to cathodic disbonding
  • Compatible with common pipe coatings
  • For tropical climates

Densoclad 40 HT

Designed to protect pipes, welded joints, bends and fittings on small to medium diameter pipe. The combination of extremely
conformable pvc backing and polymer bitumen adhesive ensures good contact with the metal substrate and excellent
adhesion to resist displacement.

Densoclad 50 HT

Designed to protect pipes, welded joints, bends and fittings on small to mediumdiameter pipe.Without sacrificing
conformability, this tape’s thicker backing provides excellent resistance to damage during handling and backfilling. The
combination of tough pvc backing with polymer bitumen adhesive makes it particularly resistant to displacement or damage.

Densoclad 70 HT

A robust heavy duty tape designed for protection of pipes, welded joints, bends and fittings on medium to large diameter pipe
in immersed environments or for buried pipe where aggressive ground conditions indicate the need
for extra mechanical strength. The tough pvc backing combined with polymer bitumen adhesive ensures complete
protection and exceptional resistance to damage by impact or poor backfill.

Application

Each carton contains full instructions for use. Brief details are given below:

The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease. Remove loose scale, rust etc by hand or mechanical wire brushing to St2 minimum or as specified.

Apply Denso Primer ‘D’ to all surfaces to be wrapped and allow to dry.

Fill irregular profiles with Densyl Mastic.

Peel back about 0.5m of interleaving and apply adhesive side of the tape to the primed surface and press down.

Apply the tape spirally with enough tension to make it conform. Remove interleaving as wrapping proceeds. Overlap each turn by 55% or as specified.

Denso Primer D

Brush applied primer required prior to application of Densoclad Tapes to promote a permanent water resistant bond.

Colour: Black
Covering Capacity: 11m2/litre
Flashpoint: 23°C minimum
Packing: 5, 25 or 200 litre drums

Densyl Mastic

Cold applied putty for moulding by hand around irregular profiles e.g. flanges, valves etc to provide a contour suitable for wrapping.

For estimating requirements allow 720 cm3/kg (20 cu.in/lb)

Outerwraps

A full range of outerwraps is available to provide extra mechanical resistance or improved heat reflecting properties.

Adhesive or non-adhesive PVC outerwraps can be supplied.
